Dupahiya web series: Director Sonam Nair expressed happiness over his recently released web series ‘Dupahiya’ on Amazon Prime to ‘Panchayat’. She considers praise to compare ‘Dupahiya’ with a successful series ‘Panchayat’.
Director Sonam Nair said, “We felt that both the shows are based on the village, so both could be compared, but we also knew that similarities end here. We feel very honored that we are being compared to a successful show, this is a compliment and I hope that their fans will also become a fan of ‘two -wheelers’.
Nair also talked about an old form of art ‘Launda Nach’. Told how he handled it. He said, “We wanted to introduce ‘Photua’ in the same way as a big film does an item song. We were lucky that we got Ganesh Acharya sir, who choreographed it.” He said, “The boys have danced openly. For me it is as good as any item song and yet it completely changes the concept of item song.”
How difficult was it to direct the series based on the Hindi belt (Hardcore Hindi Region) for Sonam Nair coming from South India? The director said, “I have Kerala, Punjab and even Burma in my blood and I grew up in a small town in Bengal. So I think I belong to every corner of my country.”
He said, “I worked to learn bids with all the actors for this series and did a broad Reiki (survey) and preparation work to ensure that the series seems real. Now when the people of Bihar are saying that it seems true to them, I am very happy.”
Let us know that the web series ‘Dupahiya’ also stars Gajraj Rao along with Renuka Shahane. The series, set in the fictional village of Dhadakpur, stars Gajraj, Renuka, Bhuvan Arora, Sparsh Srivastava, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Yashpal Sharma in the lead roles. The series was produced by Salona Bains Joshi and Shubh Shivdasani under his company Bombay film Cartel. The series is directed by Sonam Nair and written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg.
