The teaser trailer of the much-awaited film ‘Verity’ based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover has been released. The film starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson is set to kick off the Halloween season this year with a dark suspense and scary twist. ‘Verity’ is the story of a writer, Lowen Ashleigh, who is entrusted with the task of completing the incomplete book series of famous writer Verity Crawford.
Verity’s story
Based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, this fascinating and psychological thriller focuses on renowned authors Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway) and Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson). Lowen is a writer who moves into the Crawford house to write for Verity. When Lowen discovers some haunting autobiographical notes written by Verity, she finds it difficult to distinguish between truth and fiction, as well as manipulation and attraction.

What’s in the trailer?
The role of Lowen Ashleigh, the main character of the film, is played by Emma Johnson. Lowen is a writer who is hired to complete a successful book series written by Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway). A car accident leaves Verity Crawford in a coma-like state, leaving her in need of someone else to complete her book series.
As shown in the trailer, Lowen Ashleigh and Verity’s husband Jeremy (Josh Hartnett) appear to have a romantic but conflicted relationship. In one scene, a passionate kiss suddenly changes and Jeremy is replaced by Verity, who is smiling as they part. What follows is a violent fight scene, in which Verity—who was supposed to be confined to bed—attacks Lowen and bites her. The teaser ends with a tear-jerking declaration from Lowen: ‘I’m going to take everything away from you. Everything.’
In addition to Hathaway, Johnson, and Hartnett, the film also stars Ismael Cruz Cordova, Brady Wagner as Crew Crawford, and Alex Cooper. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International, Verity will be released in theaters in India on October 2, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
