On Saturday, April 26, 2026, the Special NDPS Court ordered to defreeze the bank accounts of both. Let us tell you that it was seized by NCB during the investigation in the year 2020. Now the court has given its verdict in the case and said that the agency has failed to follow the necessary legal procedures.
NCB did not follow the procedures
Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik’s lawyers Ayaz Khan and Zehra Charania had filed an application in the special court. In this, he argued in his defense that the necessary procedure for the process of freezing bank accounts was not followed. Giving legal arguments, the actress’s lawyer said that Section 68F of the Act 1985 has been violated by NCB. It was also argued that there was failure in obtaining necessary approvals within the stipulated time limit. According to the lawyer, for this reason this action was declared illegal or unlawful.
Request was made to unfreeze the account
At the same time, the government side opposed the request to unfreeze Rhea Chakraborty’s accounts and also cited Rhea Chakraborty’s statement in which she had claimed to be an active member of a drug syndicate. He also talked about staying in touch with the peddlers. In opposition to Rhea, the government lawyer also said that the officials had valid reasons for freezing the accounts and the action taken during the investigation was correct.

Court reprimanded NCB
At the same time, despite strong opposition from the government lawyers, the special court accepted the mistake of NCB. The court accepted that not receiving the correct order within the time limit cannot be ignored. The court also said that no order was issued under the Act. Therefore, it is not right to freeze the accounts of Riya and her brother Shouvik.
