Same type of films are being made in Bollywood – Karan Johar
In a special interview with ‘The Week’, Karan Johar said that most of the films released in theaters are now being made of the same type, in which the hero’s anger, action and dominance are everything. He described this trend as ‘herd mentality’ i.e. thinking of following the crowd. Karan said, ‘If a film becomes a hit in a particular zone, then 10 more similar films are made. You will see that the hero will keep walking in slow motion without any reason, will have a long beard and will be smoking cigarettes. Perhaps this is what is being shown that this is what masculinity is or at least people believe that this is what the audience likes.

Trend started after ‘Animal’
Karan Johar said that there should be all kinds of stories in cinema and the same type of masculinity should not be shown again and again. Let us tell you that the trend of more ‘macho’ and aggressive heroes going on in Bollywood these days is largely linked to Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Animal’.
