The film ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, released on April 14, 2022, created a stir in the entire Indian film industry. The credit for the success of this Kannada film directed by Prashanth Neel goes to the tremendous acting of Yash (in the role of Rocky Bhai), Sanjay Dutt’s ferocious style and spectacular action sequences. At the time of release, it was the most expensive Kannada film ever made, with a budget of Rs 100 crore. The film was dubbed into Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi languages, further cementing its status as a ‘Pan-India’ blockbuster. The runtime of this film is 2 hours 46 minutes.
What challenges did the sequel of ‘KGF’ face?
The release date of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ was postponed several times. Initially, it was planned to release on the occasion of Dussehra 2020. Then came July 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic ruined all the plans. Ultimately, the film released on April 14, 2022. During the shooting of the film, Karnataka’s anti-tobacco cell had issued notices to Yash, producers Vijay Kiragandur and Prashanth Neel because ‘anti-smoking warnings’ were not displayed during Yash’s smoking scenes.

On the very first day of release, ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ earned over Rs 134 crore in India; Its Hindi version alone created a new record by earning Rs 53-54 crore. It was also the first Kannada film to be released in IMAX.
