In an interview given to Republic World, Asha Bhosle had told that when she recorded her first song, she was only 10 years old. He had to sing in front of the mike and at that time his hands and legs were trembling because at first he did not know what a mike was.

His father had recorded and kept his songs, so it never occurred to him that such a thing could happen. After singing the first song she felt that she could sing. Not only his sister but all the brothers and sisters can sing.

Asha Bhosle had further said, ‘I sang the first song, since then I have been singing and standing. The standing of the film line is such that when we reach the studio at 10 in the morning, it is 10-11 in the night. Sometimes it’s 8 o’clock in the morning. This Mike’s life is strange.

Asha Bhosle had told, ‘My father ran away from Goa to Mumbai at a very young age. After coming here, he formed a drama company, Balwant Sangeet Mandali, he was its owner and also worked. Our life was like nomadism. We used to roam around in Maharashtra for three months here and three months there. We used to go here and there with sheds like a circus. It was a lot of fun at that time. I liked eating milk and cream very much. Everything was very good when father was there. But, after father’s death, he had to face many problems. But, we came out of those difficult times.

In the interview, Asha Bhosle had said that her mother was a very smart woman. She used to say that you people will not be able to become great singers by staying in Kolhapur. You should go to Mumbai, you are like frogs lying in water. Came to Mumbai like this, then started work. At first there are troubles. Gradually the name is formed.
