Pop icon Taylor Swift has once again turned the pages of history through her music. Swift has released an emotional music video for ‘Elizabeth Taylor’, the third single from her latest album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, which is a gorgeous tribute to Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor.
The 36-year-old singer surprised her fans on March 31 when she released this video exclusively to Spotify and Apple Music subscribers. Unlike her previous lavish visuals for singles like ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ and ‘Opalight’, Swift this time decided to pay tribute to the British-American actress who inspired the song.
Released on Spotify and Apple Music, the video features vintage footage of Elizabeth Taylor, spanning her public life and some of her most memorable films – such as ‘Cleopatra’ and ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ Scenes from – are shown.
Swift has not yet announced when this video will be available on YouTube. This method of releasing the video is similar to their ‘Oplight’ video, which was initially only available on select platforms and later came to other streaming platforms. Fans hope that this video will be available to everyone soon.
This change in release strategy comes after YouTube’s recent decision that streaming on its platform will no longer count towards Billboard chart rankings. This may be why Swift initially decided to prioritize exclusive streaming services. ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ and ‘Opalight’ both reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ remaining at the top for ten consecutive weeks. ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ has also made its way into the charts and has reached the third position so far.
