After a long wait and suspense over casting, Harry, Ron and Hermione are returning to the screens once again. HBO has released the first teaser of the new ‘Harry Potter’ TV series. The show will release in Christmas 2026, which is much earlier than expected.
The first season of the show will be based on JK Rowling’s first book, ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’. In it we will see Harry and his friends meeting for the first time as 11-year-olds on the magical train to Hogwarts.

Old memorable moments will be fresh with new faces
This two-minute trailer gives a glimpse of many special moments of the famous 2001 film. It depicts Harry’s first meeting with Hagrid, the Sorting Hat scene, and his first Quidditch match. New actors have been cast for the lead roles. Dominic McLaughlin will be seen playing Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will be playing the role of Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will be playing the role of Ron Weasley.
In major roles, John Lithgow will be seen as Dumbledore and Papa Essiedu as Professor Snape. This series is being handled by ‘Succession’ fame Francesca Gardiner and its shooting is going on at Leavesden Studios in England under very tight security.
The story will be in more detail than the films
This is not just a remake, but will be a deeper and longer series based on the books. Warner Bros. executives believe that this will prove to be the biggest event in streaming history. In comparison to films, small stories and characters from books will be shown in more detail in this show.
Original film star Daniel Radcliffe has also praised newcomer Dominic. He said that he is confident that Dominic will play this role even better than him.
Story of controversy regarding casting
Some fans are protesting on social media that a Black actor, Papa Essiedu, was cast in the role of Professor Snape. Essiedu said that he has even received death threats because of this role. He said that it is sad, but he will use this hatred to improve his acting. He says that the story of Harry Potter itself is about the victory of love over hatred, and he is working with this message.
