Sunday night of the 98th Academy Awards, the most prestigious platform of the cinema world, was historic. This year, an amazing confluence of diversity and artistry was seen at the Oscars. Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan has registered his name in the pages of history by winning the title of Best Actor for his brilliant performance in the film ‘Sinners’.
Michael B. Jordan: a historic achievement
As soon as last year’s winner Adrien Brody announced Jordan’s name, the entire Dolby Theater erupted in applause. Michael B. Jordan becomes the sixth black actor to win the Best Actor Oscar. He now joins the ranks of great artists who broke this barrier:

Jordan is the sixth black actor to win the Best Actor award. He joins the likes of Will Smith (“King Richard”, 2020), Forest Whitaker (“The Last King of Scotland”, 2006), Jamie Foxx (“Ray”, 2004), Denzel Washington (“Training Day”, 2001) and Sidney Poitier (“Lilies of the Field”), who was the first actor to win the award in 1963. Actress Jessie Buckley received the Best Actress award for her powerful performance in the film ‘Hamnet’.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s film ‘One Battle After Another’ received the Best Film award. Along with this, he was also awarded the Best Director award. This is Anderson’s first Oscar award. Autumn Durald Arcapaugh, cinematographer of the film ‘Sinners’, created history at the Oscars by becoming the first female cinematographer to win the award.

World record made in cinematography
This year’s Oscars also created history in the technical field. Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw of the film ‘Sinners’ has become the first female cinematographer to win an Oscar. Her win has set a new benchmark for women in this field of film production.
