During the 98th Academy Awards, Indian cinema’s veteran superstar Dharmendra was not given a place in the In Memoriam section, due to which his fans are quite disappointed. Although Dharmendra was given a special honor by the British Academy Film Awards last month, there was a sharp reaction on social media when he was not remembered in the live telecast of the Oscars. It is worth noting that the names of Dharmendra and Manoj Kumar were included in the detailed list on the official website of Oscar, but they were ignored during the main TV telecast.
Dharam paaji did not care about awards
In conversation with Bollywood Hungama,Reacting to the issue, Hema Malini said that it is a matter of shame for the organizers of the Oscars that they ignored an actor of such stature, who was recognized all over the world. Hema told that Dharmendra never received many awards even in his lifetime, hence he does not care much about it. He said emotionally that both of them were satisfied with the love they received from the people of their country. Hema also reminded that even her own best work in films like Laal Patthar and Meera were never rewarded with major awards.

Honor given to these Hollywood legends
While Indian stars were ignored, many big Hollywood celebrities were paid tribute in the live telecast of the Oscars. These included names like Annie Hall actress Diane Keaton, Schitt’s Creek’s Catherine O’Hara, famous actor and filmmaker Robert Redford and The Godfather fame Robert Duvall. Apart from this, German actor Udo Kier and Top Gun star Val Kilmer were also remembered for their contribution to the film industry.
