If you’re a fan of Netflix’s epic political thriller ‘The Diplomat’, it’s time to celebrate. After the explosive ending to the series’ third season, Netflix has officially confirmed that season 4 is in the pipeline and preparations have already begun.
Season four is officially coming
After the explosive season 3 finale, political tensions show no signs of letting up. Kate Wyler’s (Keri Russell) diplomatic journey will continue, with Netflix confirming a fourth season in 2025. The show was also included in the recently released lineup of returning titles, confirming the news for eager viewers.
Season four will see the return of Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford. According to Netflix, The Diplomat will remain in production until July 2026, with shooting resuming in New York City this month and later in the UK. The series is expected to release in late 2026, with more updates to come.

A social media user shared a post on Instagram that read, “The Diplomat season 4 is officially on Netflix’s list for 2026. Netflix recently released its list of new and returning shows, confirming that The Diplomat is definitely set to premiere sometime this year.
Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford will return to their roles, now upgraded as series regulars, in Season 4, as well as Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, and the entire cast. According to Netflix, The Diplomat will remain in production until July 2026, with shooting resuming in NYC this month and later in the UK. Expect a release in late 2026; “More updates to come.”

The season stars Keri Russell, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Rufus Sewell, Ali Aon, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh.Additionally, Nana Mensah, who plays White House Chief of Staff Billy Appiah, has also been promoted as a series regular for the show’s fourth season.
The Diplomat stars Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell as Kate and Hal Wyler, a politically influential married couple. Kate, who is Ambassador to the UK, gained a new title in season three, Second Lady, when Hal, himself a former ambassador, unexpectedly became Vice President of the United States, a role he had long expected Kate to take. Throughout the series, the pair grapple with how their personal relationships impact global politics, and how the demanding demands of their careers both strengthen and weaken their relationship.
