The stage of Grammy Awards 2026 has always been known for its music and unique fashion, but this time the red carpet look of ‘Hot to Go’ fame singer Chappell Roan has become the talk of the town. Her bold and artistic ‘Mugler’ gown has divided the internet into two camps. As soon as Chappelle Rhone stepped out at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, the cameras turned towards her. She wore a custom sheer gown designed by Mugler, which sparked a storm of mixed reactions on social media.

The look was inspired by vintage fashion
This look of Chappell Rhone was no ordinary fashion choice. It was inspired by legendary designer Manfred Thierry Muller’s Spring/Summer 1998 ‘Jeu de Paume’ couture collection. This historic look was reimagined for 2026 by designer Miguel Castro Freitas of fashion house Muller.

Responding to the online discussion, Chappelle Roan wrote on Instagram, “Laughing because I don’t think it’s that weird of an outfit. This look is really great and weird. I recommend you use your own, it’s really funny and silly 😀 Thank you for inviting me to the @grammys and to everyone who voted for me.” For those who don’t know, Chapelle Roan’s look was inspired by Manfred Thierry Mugler’s legendary Spring/Summer 1998 ‘Jeu de Pomme’ couture collection. The look for the 2026 Grammy Awards was redesigned by designer Miguel Castro Freitas for fashion house Mugler.

At the 2026 Grammys, Chappelle Roan did not perform, but she presented the award for Best New Artist. Most notably, she was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her chart-topping single, ‘The Subway’, which was released last July.
