Sanjay Leela Bhansali Heeramandi: Indian writer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut series ‘Hiramandi – The Diamond Bazaar’ was the most searched Indian show on Google globally in 2024.
This is the only Indian show in the list released by Google. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix period drama ‘Hiramandi’ has been ranked fourth in the list.
The story of this show, its music, spectacular visuals along with excellent acting by the actors make it special. The series also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Sehgal, Sanjeeda Sheikh along with Taha Shah Badusha.
Taha, who plays the role of Nawab Tajdar Baloch in the series, had earlier revealed that he had auditioned for 15 months to get the role in the show.
Talking about his audition, he had said in a statement, “Dreaming of working with great people, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was at the top of my list. I had to audition continuously for 15 months for his show, and finally , I was grateful to have the opportunity to mentor him. It was a dream come true when he suggested me to screen test for an important character, Tajdar’s best friend.”
This OTT series explores the cultural reality of Heeramandi, a glittering district, through the stories of prostitutes and their patrons against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian independence struggle of the 1940s.
This marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s remarkable debut in the digital arena and an important milestone in his illustrious career. The eight-part series ‘Hiramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ is available on Netflix.
