Amitabh Bachchan often recalls old stories of his father. New Delhi. The relationship between Amitabh Bachchan and his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was very deep, respectful and unique. In his father’s stories he often tried to tell how strict and disciplinarian he was, but his love was equally immense. Amitabh used to call him ‘Babuji’ and considered his every word as final. On the sets of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Amitabh Bachchan recently narrated such an old incident related to his father that the entire studio burst out laughing. The mega star revealed that only once in his life had he raised his voice to his father, the great poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and asked ‘Why did you give birth to us?’
In front of guest Aamir Khan on the sets of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, he recalled the only moment in his life when he raised his voice in front of his father. Amitabh told that those were the initial days of college. There was sudden freedom after the strict life of boarding school. The world was beginning to seem very complex. After returning home one evening in anger he put this question to Babuji.

Amitabh Bachchan told that after hearing this question, Harivansh Rai Bachchan did not say anything at that time, neither got angry nor scolded, he remained completely silent and like every day, he left for his daily walk at 4-5 in the morning. When Amitabh woke up in the morning, a folded paper was found under the pillow. Father had written a complete poem on it. The title of that poem was ‘Nai Leikh’.

Amitabh had written about the sentiment behind this incident in his blog of June 2008. Amitabh had also mentioned this incident in his blog post in June 2008. He had written that after finishing school, suddenly there was freedom and the world started appearing very complex. ‘One had to do whatever was told during boarding. As soon as we came to college, we ourselves became the messiah of the world and humanity. Overnight idealistic and non-idealistic statements started being made. One day in this confusion, anger erupted and that question came out.

He wrote that things change rapidly at that age, ‘You used to be told what to do, now you start telling what should be done. Almost overnight you become the savior of the world and humanity with your idealistic statements. Let us tell you that Harivansh Rai Bachchan was the author of great books like ‘Madhushala’. He died on 18 January 2003 at the age of 95 after a prolonged illness.
