New Delhi. Actress Ashita Dhawan spoke openly about the changes in the TV industry. He told that earlier TV shows used to run for years and they contained hundreds or thousands of episodes, such as Ekta Kapoor’s popular shows. She is considered the queen of TV, as she made shows that lived in the hearts of people for a long time, but today’s TV world has changed.
Talking to IANS, actress Ashita Dhawan said, ‘Now the length of the show is determined by TRP. If a show does not get good views quickly, then it is shut down soon, due to which most of the shows are small and end up quickly. They were really golden days when producers like Ekta Kapoor used to make iconic shows that ran up to 500, 1000, even 2000 episodes. But now the time has changed and the choice of the audience too.
Everything is dependent on TRP
He said, ‘Now a lot of channels and online platforms are available to see the audience. Now everything depends on TRP. If a show does not bring good numbers quickly, it is closed despite being creative. I was working on the Krishnamohini show. It was only three months and we could not even show the real plot of the story, then the channel decided to close the show. Now the situation has become such that even if a show reaches 800 episodes, it is considered as big as it was considered to be earlier on completing thousands of episodes.
The audience did not like the show
When Ashita was asked that Indian TV shows are often called melodramatic and the content on OTT is sometimes confusing, what is their opinion on this? On this, he said, ‘Every country has its own different style. The way of telling the story in our industry can be even better. I did a show Ladies Special, which was very simple and connected to the ground. Stories like less makeup, natural lighting and real life were shown in it. But the audience did not like that show. They want glamor, drama and spectacle, so it is not enough to just want the changes of the creators, until the choice of the audience changes, the content will not change.

This is said about the negative role in ‘Prem Leela’
Apart from this, Ashita talked about the negative role played in her new TV show ‘Prem Leela’. He told, ‘Such characters are more depth. As an actor I find it more challenging and interesting. There is a chance to explore different aspects. When you play a positive role, most of the time you are shown only crying. Frequent crying scenes have to be done, which do not give creative challenge.
