Even after years, Anil Kapoor is earning from one of his films
In fact, during ‘India Today Conclave 2026’, 69-year-old Anil Kapoor revealed that he is still getting royalties for his role in the 2008 Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He told that recently he has received a payment of 3,000 pounds and his total earnings from this film will reach almost half a million pounds.
He said, “I must share this with you. This is a very emotional moment for me. It has been more than a decade and a half, and just yesterday I once again got paid for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.” He further revealed the amount he received, and said, “Yesterday, it was 3,000 pounds (Rs 3.5 lakh). I pay all my taxes, so I can say that I am going to get almost half a million pounds (Rs 6 crore approximately). So, I am a millionaire. I didn’t ask for it. They gave it themselves.”
Why was it ‘Slumdog Millionaire’?
The veteran actor further explained his reason behind joining Danny Boyle’s film. He said, “I did that film to teach myself something, I want to learn, and that is how I remain relevant even today.” He added, “They said they couldn’t pay my fees. I said, ‘Did I ask for money?’ I said, ‘I’ll do it for free.’ He has done this himself.”
