Alcohol problems and Diljit Dosanjh’s concerts are going together these days. Following the notice from the Telangana government, the Maharashtra Excise Department on Sunday canceled the permit to serve liquor at the concert of actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh in Kothrud area of Pune. The department canceled the permit after several sources, including Chandrakant Patil, the recently elected BJP MLA from Kothrud, opposed the plan to serve liquor at the event.
State Excise Commissioner C Rajput said, “The state excise department has canceled the permission to serve liquor during the event.” MLA Patil objected to the concert being held that evening at Kakade Farm in Kothrud. In a statement, the BJP leader claimed that such demonstrations are not normal for the city. This will cause great distress to the local population. There will also be delays in traffic due to the program. Therefore, I have appealed to the city police commissioner to cancel the program.

Diljit got notice before Hyderabad concert
It is worth noting that Diljit Dosanjh, who is currently in India for his Dil-Luminati Tour, has received a notice from the Telangana government ahead of his concert in Hyderabad on Friday, November 15. In the notice, the Punjabi singer has been asked not to sing songs promoting drugs, alcohol or violence. The direction has been given following the representation of Panditrao Dharenavar of Chandigarh, who recently presented video evidence of Diljit singing songs promoting drugs, alcohol and violence. The notice also warns him not to ‘use children’ during his show.

Diljit reacts to liquor controversy during his concert
Diljit also reacted to the controversy of singing alcohol during Hyderabad and Lucknow concerts.The actor-singer pointed out the double standards in treatment of foreign versus Indian artistes.“Any artist from outside can come and sing as per his wish, there is no tension.
