In an interview given by BBC in 2000, Shah Rukh had told that he used to study science in school, but wanted to do something different in college. When he told his mother that he wants to read Economics, his mother said-It is almost but first it showed whether you can pass the entrance of IIT or not. Shahrukh laughed and said that I said to my mother, yes, I can do it! And then I also passed the exam. After this, his mother said that just, now you have shown, go to read the economics of your mind. So Shah Rukh left engineering and caught the path of economics.

Shahrukh told in the same interview that his childhood was very free and pleasant. There were no strict rules in his house. Shahrukh also has an elder sister and his parents always allowed him to live on his own will. Whether it is studies, career or religion, Shah Rukh has always been told, do those who come to mind, just do it with heart and be happy.
