Shocking revelations have been made in the case of shooting at the Juhu residence of famous film producer Rohit Shetty. Mumbai Police has informed the special court that the main objective of the attack was to create an atmosphere of fear and panic in the city. Considering the seriousness of the case, the police have implemented stringent laws like MCOCA against the accused.The special MCOCA court sent the five accused to police custody till February 17.

According to the information, at least five bullets were fired on the first floor of Shetty’s residence in Juhu at around 12.45 am on February 1. One bullet hit the glass of the gym located inside the building. The anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch is investigating the case. Some of the accused are already involved in serious crimes, the officer said.

The crime branch has imposed stringent sections of MCOCA in the case. Police have so far arrested Aditya Gayaki (19), Siddharth Yenpure (20), Samarth Pomaji (18), Swapnil Sakat (23) and Asaram Fasale in this case. Shubham Lonkar, a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is also among the criminals wanted in this case. He had allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing at Shetty’s house. Lonkar is also wanted in the case of firing at the Bandra residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui.

The accused were produced before a special MCOCA court after their police custody ended. The police sought further 15 days’ custody of the accused from the court. Police told the court that the accused, who are absconding, are also linked to Shubham Lonkar and his brother Praveen Lonkar. Praveen is in judicial custody for his alleged role in the NCP leader Baba Siddiqui murder case. Police said that one of the weapons recovered from the accused was supplied by Praveen Lonkar and the aim of the gang was to spread terror in Mumbai.
