Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding was the most wonderful and dreamy wedding. The couple, who met on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in 2014, dated for several years before getting married in 2022. Although she shared her dreamy wedding photos, she has now revealed what went wrong in putting it together. It was planned in just ten days at the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa in Mahabalipuram after their plans to get married at the Tirupati temple did not work out due to logistics issues. Born as Diana Kurian, Nayanthara changed her name when she entered films. After this, she changed her religion in 2011 and wanted to marry Vignesh in Tirupati Tirumala temple.
Nayanthara’s wedding was planned by Shaadi Squad, the team behind many celebrity weddings including Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal and Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas. Speaking to the camera in the documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, Shaadi Squad’s Tina and Saurabh shared, “The day we got the call that Tirupati was not happening, we immediately left for Chennai. Despite changing the venue, they did not want to change the date.”
Speaking in Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, planners revealed that despite the change of venue, the couple insisted on keeping the same wedding date.

The actress also shared her desire for a Hindu marriage after converting from Christianity to Hinduism. She said, “Because I’m a born Christian, my mother always wanted to see me in that Christian dress – a wedding dress kind of thing. But, since I’ve become a Hindu, and we have to have a Hindu wedding, I thought It should be a beautiful blend of both Hindu and Christian wedding. So we kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch.”

Born as Diana Kurian, Nayanthara changed her name after entering the film industry. Nayanthara’s wedding was attended by many top names of Indian cinema, including Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam, Shahrukh Khan, Atlee, Suriya and Jyothika. The couple visited Tirupati temple for blessings the day after their wedding. They are now the parents of twin sons, Uir and Ulag, born through surrogacy.
Meanwhile, Nayanthara has publicly criticized Dhanush for suing him over the use of a BTS video from the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in his upcoming documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. In an open letter, she accused Dhanush of ignoring her request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to include the footage in the film and made serious allegations against him.
