In the ongoing controversy over the recent comments of Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, many political personalities, including Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan and Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs, have come forward to defend freedom of expression of Kamra and criticize the action of those who sabotaged the demolition at the place in Mumbai, where their show was filmed.
Talking to the media in the Parliament complex, Jaya Bachchan reacted to the entire incident. He questioned the boundaries imposed on freedom of expression in the country.

ANI quoted Bachchan as saying, “What will happen to you if there is a ban on speaking? You are in a bad state anyway. You are banned. You will only be asked to speak on it and nothing, do not interview Jaya Bachchan.” He said, “Where is the freedom of expression? The freedom of action is only when there is an uproar – beating the opposition, killing women, what else?
Kunal Kamra, known for sarcastic comments, is in controversy over a video of one of her shows. In the clip, he calls Eknath Shinde joining the BJP and calls him ‘traitors’. This video became fast viral on social media, causing panic and sharp reactions.
The comments of the comedian were angry with the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leaders and vandalized a studio and hotel Unicinental in Khar area of Mumbai on Sunday. He claimed that the video was shot at this place.
The clip of the show shared by Kamra himself is shown singing a spoof song from the Bollywood film Dil To Pagal Hai, referring to the “Thane leader of Thane”, while remarking about Shinde’s physical texture and his equation with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. However, Kamra did not clearly take Shinde’s name in the clip.

In the complaint lodged by Shiv Sena leader Rahul Kanal, it has been called “a systematic payment campaign to tarnish the pre -planned criminal conspiracy and the reputation, image and goodwill of Shinde”.
