However, actress and former Union Minister Smriti Irani, who plays the character of ‘Tulsi Virani’ and the life of the show, has clarified the situation by giving a strong reaction to these news. He completely dismissed these rumors before they spread further.

Responding to these discussions, Smriti Irani directly responded to this claim in the comments. She said, “It would be better if you verify the PR content from the authorities who have the IP rights (intellectual property rights). I am not associated with any other show except ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’.” She further clarified, “Legally, I am not authorized to be involved in any spin-off programs that use my image and/or personality. Please verify this so that viewers are not misinformed.”

There is no scope for doubt after this answer. As of now, there are no confirmed spin-offs involving him.

Many reports had claimed that Star Plus is working on a new series, which will be titled ‘Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain’. It was being presented as a spin-off of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. According to these reports, the story will focus on Vrinda and Angad, played by Tanisha Mehta and Rohit Suchanti. This series will show his journey in more detail.

‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ originally aired on Star Plus from 2000 to 2008 and became one of the most popular shows on Indian television. The character of Tulsi Virani played by Smriti created the image of an ideal daughter-in-law in the minds of many viewers.

Its reboot, which began airing last year, brings back familiar faces, including Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay as Mihir. Recreated by Ekta Kapoor, the new version stars Ketki Dave, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan and Shakti Anand back in their old roles along with new actors like Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Shagun Sharma and Tanisha Mehta.

Unlike the original show’s long run of 1833 episodes, the current version is planned as a limited series of 150 episodes. It premiered on July 29, 2025 on Star Plus and is also available on JioHotstar.
