Veteran Bollywood and Tollywood singer Hariharan is celebrating his 71st birthday today i.e. on 3rd April. He has sung songs in many Indian languages. He has also won the hearts of fans with his singing. Some of the superhit songs of the singer include ‘Bahon Ke Darmiyaan’, ‘Tu Hi Re’, ‘Roja Jaaneman’ and ‘Chhod Aaye Hum’. Birth and family
Hariharan was born on 03 April 1955 in Trivandrum, Kerala. He is the son of famous Carnatic singer Smt. Alamelu. Hariharan started learning Indian classical music from his father Ananth Subramani. Hariharan studied till 12th from Don Bosco High School, Matunga. Then he graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
Got fame after winning the show
Let us tell you that in the year 1977, Hariharan won the singing show ‘All India Sur Singer Competition’. After winning this show he became a popular face. After hearing the melodious voice of Hariharan, music director Jaidev signed him as a singer. After which he never looked back. In 1966, he formed a two-member band with Lesley Lewis and named it ‘Colonial Misers’.
The duo of Hariharan and Lesley Lewis had given excellent music in many languages. Hariharan’s favorite musicians are Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Lata Mangeshkar, AR Rahman, Asha Bhosle and Mehndi Hassan. Along with travelling, Hariharan also likes reading.
