The announcement of the uncrowned king of Indian music, Arijit Singh, to quit playback singing has shocked the entire industry and fans. After this decision, speculations started on social media that pressure was put on him regarding the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ (new version of Sandesh Aate Hain) for the film ‘Border 2’. Now the film’s producer Bhushan Kumar has broken his silence on these claims.
These claims came after Singh announced his decision to step away from playback singing. Some social media users immediately linked his retirement to his participation in the new version of the iconic patriotic song from the 1997 film Border. In an interview with HT City, Kumar said, “Please call Arijit and ask, this is all nonsense.”
The new edition of ‘Sandesh Aate Hain’, titled ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’, brings together an ensemble cast including Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathore, Vishal Mishra and Diljit Dosanjh.
Singh, 38, recently gave further clarification on his decision to quit playback singing, explaining that it was not due to any one incident.
In a statement posted on his Private Singh indicated that his departure was a gradual process rather than a reaction to any specific incident.
Singh also assured his listeners that he plans to complete his ongoing professional responsibilities before stepping away completely. He wrote, “I still have some outstanding commitments to fulfill, and I will fulfill them. So, you may see a few more releases this year. Just to make it clear, I will not stop making music.”
Singh explained the reasons for his decision in detail, citing his creative habits and desire for change. He said, “One reason is quite simple: I lose interest quickly, which is why I often change the arrangements of my songs and perform them live.” He further explained, “So, the truth is: I’m tired. I need to explore different music to move forward.”
According to Singh, another motivating factor is his desire to support and listen to emerging voices in the music industry.His most recent playback recording was ‘Mathrubhoomi’ from the film Battle of Galwan.
