Writing a new chapter in the history of Indian cinema, the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (Dhurandhar 2) has brought a tsunami at the box office. Within just 13 days of its release, the film has not only surpassed the total earnings of its first part, but is now on the verge of crossing the magical figure of ₹1,500 crore worldwide.
Beat the first part, now eye on global club
The first part of ‘Dhurandhar’, which released on December 5, had earned ₹1,307.35 crore in its entire journey. But its sequel destroyed this record in just 11 days. Considering the tremendous buzz of the film and the craze of the audience, trade experts believe that it has the potential to join the ₹2,000 crore club soon.
Box office collection till now
According to trade website Sacnilk, Dhurandhar 2 has earned a total of ₹1,435.41 crore worldwide in 13 days, of which India has contributed ₹1,077.41 crore and overseas markets have contributed ₹358 crore. The film’s net (after deducting taxes) collection from 267,853 shows in India stood at ₹899.92 crore.
On its second Tuesday at the domestic box office, the film earned a total of ₹33.22 crore and a net of ₹27.75 crore. These figures reflect the film’s continued popularity among audiences.
Worldwide ranking so far
Currently, Dhurandhar 2 is ranked fourth in the list of highest-grossing films of all time worldwide; Next are Dangal (2016), Baahubali 2 (2017) and Pushpa 2 (2024). Dangal remains the highest-grossing Indian film of all time worldwide, earning approximately ₹2,070 crore. Its success was mainly attributed to its strong performance in China, where it grossed over ₹1,300 crore. Dhurandhar 2, also known as Dhurandhar: The Revenge, was released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. This film stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Udaybir Sandhu, Gaurav Gera and Rakesh Bedi play the lead roles.
India Today gave this film 3.5 stars. Part of the film’s review states, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge expands the scope of its predecessor, sharpens it, and builds on the same premise. What the first film only hinted at, this film delivers: more violence, more grandeur, more emotional turmoil, and a deeper obsession with revenge.”
The film was released in theaters on March 19 and since then, it has been garnering praises and attracting audiences across different languages and regions.
