A new golden chapter has been added in the history of Indian cinema. Director Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ has done at the box office what was till now a dream for any Bollywood film. The film has become the first Hindi film to collect Rs 1000 crore (net) in India across all languages combined.

Till now, only South Indian films (‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Pushpa 2’) had captured this magical figure in Indian cinema. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has hoisted the flag of Bollywood by achieving this milestone on the 18th day. The most interesting thing is that this film did not get the benefit of any big festival or long holiday, it grew on the basis of its pure quality and ‘word of mouth’.

For those who don’t know, Aamir Khan’s Dangal had earned ₹387.38 crore in India. According to Sacnilk, its overseas collection was ₹1535.3 crore. Hence, the total worldwide collection of this film is ₹2070.3 crore. Now Dhurandhar 2 is eyeing the ₹2000 crore mark. By the 19th day, the film has crossed the ₹1600 crore mark. Now it remains to be seen how much this spy thriller earns in its third week.
