Muslim organizations on Thursday boycotted the Iftar party of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu regarding the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill. On the call of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Muslim leaders kept distance from ‘Iftar and dinner’ at the Convention Center here. In addition, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) launched a nationwide agitation against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, including the sit-in demonstrations. TVK said in a resolution passed in the first meeting of the party’s general council chaired by the party’s founder Vijay here that the Waqf Bill has made new conditions and snatched the powers of Muslims in related matters and their current rights are also crushed, so the Center should withdraw it.
On the proposed delimitation process, Vijay’s party cited “information” that the number of seats in the northern states would increase manifold and the number would decrease in southern states including Tamil Nadu. The party said, “The people of Tamil Nadu consider it to be punished for following the Central Government’s Family Planning Scheme properly.” He demanded withdrawal of steps related to the delimitation process from the Center.
