Upasana Singh was born on 29 June 1975 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. His schooling was done in Hoshiarpur only. He did further studies from Punjab University. When the actress was seven years old, she used to participate in Doordarshan programs on behalf of her school.

Made Bollywood debut at the age of 11
Apart from Hindi films, Upasana Singh has also worked in Punjabi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri and Gujarati language films. His acting debut was in Hindi cinema. She was first seen in the 1986 Bollywood film ‘Babul’. At that time his age was only 11 years. At the age of 13, he worked in the Rajasthani film ‘Bai Chali Sasariye’ (1988).
