The clash between Bollywood and the world of crime has often made headlines on the cinematic screens, but this time a real-life rivalry that has shaken the nation for years is all set to come on the big screen. The official poster of the upcoming film ‘Blackbuck’, based around the three axes of superstar Salman Khan, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, has been released on Friday. The film is not just a courtroom battle, but is a unique amalgamation of crime thriller and high-voltage courtroom drama.

Talking about the film, producer Amit Jani said, “The courtroom drama, the crime, the thriller, the rivalry between Lawrence Bishnoi and Salman Khan in the case of black buck poaching by Salman Khan in Kakani village of Jodhpur in 1998—the entire sequence has been shot as one film. The film has been shot in Sambhal, Moradabad and other cities of Uttar Pradesh.”
He further added, “The Bollywood actors who came to Jodhpur—Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Satish Shah and others—were together during the shooting. The hunting that took place at that time, Salman Khan’s arrest and the punishment he received—all this is shown in the film. And its poster was eagerly awaited. People have been waiting for a long time to make a film based on Salman Khan, Lawrence Bishnoi and the deer poaching incident. We were waiting for the story, we are going to release its first look i.e. teaser on 20th June.

Lawrence Bishnoi is after Salman Khan so that he can take revenge for the illegal hunting of black buck. The Bishnoi community considers the black deer sacred. Bishnoi is targeting people who are close to the superstar. In October 2024, politician Baba Siddiqui—who was close to Salman—was shot dead near his home in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang had taken responsibility for the attack on this politician.
