He said that she remained closely connected to his family through both personal and political relations.

Ameesha Patel was asked, ‘We have heard that the first person who came to meet you after birth was former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi?’ The actress agreed to this and then when she was asked about her connection with the Gandhi family, she said, ‘My grandfather Barrister Rajni Patel was a lawyer and barrister. He again entered politics. Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru was his mentor since childhood. Then when he came into politics, he first joined the Communist Party. Later came to Congress.

Ameesha Patel’s grandfather was close to Indira Gandhi
Ameesha Patel further says, ‘When he joined Congress, his closest friend was Indira Gandhi. He was also their Chief Advisor, Treasurer of Congress and President of the party. There was no such political move when Indira Gandhi ji did not discuss with my grandfather. Didn’t take their opinion. Grandfather had collected funds for so many Chief Ministers of India. Our family was completely involved in politics.
Indira Gandhi had organized the marriage of Ameesha’s parents.
Along with this, Ameesha Patel told that she had got her parents married. She says, ‘It was Indira Gandhi who got my parents married. Actually, when the horoscopes did not match, he was asked when his dates were free. Then, taking her date, my mom and dad got married. This is the connection. This is a very deep relationship. The Nehru Planet was built by my grandfather. In the end, the actress also thanked Congress and said, ‘My grandfather had connections with Congress. He had a deep and professional relationship with Indira Gandhiji.

Ameesha Patel’s parents’ wedding took place in Taj Mahal Palace.

The actress had told, ‘My grandfather Barrister Rajni Patel had asked Indira Gandhi when she was free, to which she said 4th July, then Taj Mahal Palace, South Bombay Colaba was booked for the same day and my parents got married there. When I was born on June 9, 1975, she was the first person who met me in the hospital.
