Ramakrishna Dongre, Naiduniya, Raipur. The first day of Jagran Film Festival started with the screening of thriller film ‘Irani Chai’ directed by Manoj Srivastava. The title of the film had created a curiosity in the minds of the audience that perhaps it would be a film adorned with Iranian background and actors.
However, except the lead actress Mozhagan Taraneh, all the other actors of the film are well-known faces of Indian cinema. Mozhagan plays Yasmin, a complex and mysterious young woman, in the film.

The story of ‘Irani Chai’ revolves around Yasmin, who comes to India from Iran for a special purpose. Her ailing father’s dying wish is for her to become an actress, but in India she faces a harsh reality and gets sucked into prostitution.

One night he discovers that four of his regular customers are actually involved in a criminal conspiracy, one of whom has a large amount of money hidden in a safe. Desperate for her father’s treatment, Yasmin hatches a dangerous plan to gain access to the money. His quest entangles him in a web of secrets and deceptions.

At the center of the film is the Iranian tea ritual. Every night, when these men come to Yasmin’s house, she serves them Iranian tea. With every sip of tea, they tell their stories, which gradually connect with each other to form an intricate story.

The film also mentions an amount worth crores of rupees which was confiscated from someone by a corrupt police officer. Eventually Yasmin succeeds in getting this amount through her cleverness and determination and returns to Iran for her father’s treatment.
The screening of the film took place in a hall packed with spectators, where the audience remained captivated with mystery and thrill for two hours. At the end of the film, the audience appreciated the film with thunderous applause.
