The news of the demise of popular actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee of Bengali film and TV industry has shocked everyone. 43-year-old Rahul was shooting for his series Bhole Baba Paar Karega at Talsari Beach in Odisha on Sunday, when this tragic accident happened. He was immediately taken to the hospital but by then it was too late. Now police investigation has started in this matter. At present, the police have registered a case of unnatural death in Rahul Banerjee’s death case and the post-mortem of the actor’s body will be done today.

Series director Subhashish Mandal told that the shooting of that day was almost over and most of the actors had left. But Rahul Banerjee was adamant on giving unscripted drone shots. He was shooting a honeymoon scene with his co-star Shweta Mishra in knee-deep water. The first take went fine, but then a small wave came which made Shweta nervous and she decided to step out.

The cause of death will be known after post mortem

Senior doctor of Digha State General Hospital said, ‘He (Rahul Banerjee) was brought to the hospital at around 6:10 pm, but by the time the doctors started examining him, his breathing had stopped. According to the police officer, when Rahul was brought to the hospital, there was no movement in his body. Initially it is suspected that perhaps he had a heart attack in the water and then drowned, but the real cause of death will be clear only after the post mortem report.

Police registered the case and started investigation

A senior police officer of East Midnapore district said, ‘We have registered a case of unnatural death. We are interrogating the members of the shooting unit so that the exact sequence of events can be known. Besides, it will also be investigated whether the prescribed safety rules were followed during the shooting or not. At present, Rahul’s body has been kept in the mortuary of Digha Hospital. His post-mortem will be conducted at Contai Sub-Divisional Hospital on Monday morning.
