Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, son of great filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, passed away at the age of one. He was suffering from Parkinson’s disease for the last 10-12 years. His funeral took place on 13 February 2026 in Mumbai. As an important member of the second generation of Sagar Arts, he contributed significantly to famous projects like 2008’s ‘Ramayana’, ‘Alif Laila’ and ‘Aankhen’. He carried forward his father’s legacy with modern technology. There is mourning in the entertainment world due to his demise.

New Delhi: A special era of the Indian television industry has come to an end. Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, son of great filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, died on 13 February 2026 at the age of 84. He was suffering from a serious disease like Parkinson’s for more than a decade and he breathed his last after a long illness. The news of his demise has spread mourning among the entertainment world and fans of the Sagar family. The family released an official statement revealing the sad news. His funeral took place at 4:30 pm on Friday evening at the Hindu cremation ground (Pawan Hans) in Vile Parle, Mumbai.
Anand Sagar was part of the second generation leadership of ‘Sagar Arts’, which gave a new identity to mythological and historical stories on Indian television. Taking forward the legacy of his father Ramanand Sagar, he played an important role in big projects like ‘Ramayana’ in 2008. He not only left his mark in the field of direction, but was also associated with the intricacies of filmmaking. During his active years, the name of the Sagar family continued to touch heights in the world of entertainment through popular serials like ‘Alif Laila’ and films like ‘Aankhen’ and ‘Armaan’. He also made an important contribution in making television production technically prosperous.
