Sudha Chandra told, “At a very young age, due to family responsibilities, my father came to Mumbai from there. He used to work as a typist in the house of a very big dancer. He thought that if I get married and have a daughter, I will make her a dancer. I will name her Sudha Ram, because the name of the dancer where he worked was Sudha Doraiswamy. One day I told my grandfather, you talk about Murugan every day. I also want to meet this God. We The bus left and after just 10 kilometers the two buses collided head-on.

Sudha Chandran further said, “…after 4-5 days, I suffered a slight fracture. I don’t know what they did. There was a slight cut on my right ankle. They put stitches, applied plaster of Paris or I don’t know what. Tried a lot for 15 days. By then gangrene had set in. It was a matter of life and death. Then my leg had to be amputated. And the big question was – what will a dancer do without a leg?”

Three years after her leg was amputated, Sudha gave a 3.5-hour performance with an artificial leg. Due to fear, she wanted only family members to be present, but the auditorium was packed. If he is really our family deity, he will appear to me in some form or the other.’ As soon as the performance started, a Brahmin came into the auditorium. Only one seat was vacant. He came and sat near Appa. He said, give this camphor to your daughter after the show. When I opened his wallet, there was a picture of Lord Murugan in it.”

The actress also spoke emotionally about her father’s last days. She told, “I was sitting outside the ICU. Suddenly I saw a peacock. As soon as I saw the peacock, I said, the news will come in 10 minutes. Within 5 minutes, the doctor said, they are going. I said, I know. They have come to take them. Within 5 minutes, Papa passed away.”
