Dhanbad. Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, resident of Katras Mod, Jharia in Dhanbad district, has made the entire district proud by winning an amount of Rs 13 lakh 30 thousand by performing brilliantly in Sony Entertainment Television’s popular knowledge-based show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (Season 16). Reaching the hot seat in front of the megastar of the century Amitabh Bachchan and showcasing his knowledge and confidence there was no less than a dream come true for Kaushalendra.
Kaushalendra Pratap Singh won the Fastest Finger first round and made it to the hot seat and started the game with Rs 10,000. By giving correct answers to 12 consecutive questions, he secured an amount of Rs 12 lakh 50 thousand. When the correct answer to the 13th question was not clear, he wisely decided to exit the game and won the total prize money of Rs 13 lakh 30 thousand.
work in coal transportation
During the game, Kaushalendra introduced himself to Amitabh Bachchan and told that he is involved in coal transportation and this is the main source of his livelihood. He emotionally said that his childhood dream was to become an IAS officer. But due to financial constraints he could not study further. Despite limited resources, his passion for knowledge never diminished. At present, Kaushalendra has been living with a relative in Jaiprakash Nagar, Dhanbad for the last three-four years.
During the show, when Amitabh Bachchan asked him about the use of the winning amount, he said that he will spend this amount on the education and family needs of his three-year-old son Daksh and three-month-old daughter Deeksha. He also told that investments have been made in the bank for the education of children. So that financial problems do not become a hindrance in their studies in future.
Generations may not have dreamed
While sharing his experiences from the stage of KBC, Kaushalendra said that the chair I am sitting on today. None of my generation had dreamed of sitting there. This was the first experience in my life when I boarded an airplane, stayed in a big hotel and got food on time without any worries. Had I been able to study a little more, perhaps it would not have taken 24 years to reach here.
During the game, many questions were related to Jharkhand, which he answered accurately. He won 40 thousand rupees by declaring Barakar river as a tributary of Damodar. By linking the Ulgulan movement with Lord Birsa Munda, he earned Rs 80 thousand and also got Rs 80 thousand as bonus. By making proper use of audience polls and other life lines, he continued his victory.
Could not get help from friend on video call lifeline on 11th question. But by reactivating the audience poll with the help of Bonus Lifeline, he won Rs 6 lakh 40 thousand. During this, his wife Seema Devi and son appeared on the screen. While talking to his wife, he talked about repaying the loan, to which the wife replied in a light-hearted manner.
Also worked as loading supervisor
Kaushalendra’s primary education was from ISL School, Jharia. Completed his intermediate studies from Prayagraj, whereas due to financial reasons his graduation studies remained incomplete. After this, he worked as a loading supervisor in various collieries of Dhanbad, taking over his father’s coal business. His maternal grandfather and father were also associated with the coal business.
He told that he kept practicing questions related to KBC through mobile for the last three years and the result of that hard work took him to the hot seat. He has also received a gold coin, an amount of Rs 13.30 lakh and an award of getting ghee for two years from KBC. Which he used for worship, charity and family needs. This success of Kaushalendra Pratap Singh is an example of struggle, patience and continuous effort. Which proves that no matter what the circumstances are, if the spirits are high then dreams definitely come true.
