Filmmaker Rajesh Ghatani has confirmed Prashant’s death. Well-known singer Mahesh Seva of Darjeeling paid tribute to his friend by sharing a post on social media. He wrote that he is heartbroken by the departure of his dear brother Prashant. Prashant Tamang got recognition across the country after winning Indian Idol Season 3. He was born on 4 January 1983 in Darjeeling. He originally belonged to Nepal and fans fondly call him the pride of the mountains. His family consists of mother, grandmother and a sister. He married Geeta Thapa in 2011 and in recent years he was living in Delhi with his wife.
Before coming to Indian Idol, Prashant was posted in Kolkata Police. He was a part of the police orchestra and used to sing in programs. It was his senior officers who advised him to participate in a singing reality show, which changed his life. After winning the show, Prashant released his first music album with Sony BMG, which included Hindi and Nepali songs. After this he also worked as a playback singer and actor in Nepali films. His voice and acting were greatly appreciated.
