But for the last 2-3 years this show was surrounded by controversies. Many other actors including Shailesh Lodha, Neha Mehta, Disha Vakani, Jheel Mehta, Jennifer Mistry left the show. Not only this, Shailesh Lodha and Jennifer Mistry even made serious allegations against the makers of the show. All of them got a lot of popularity from the show. Disha’s character of Dayaben was very much liked. But after going on maternity leave in 2017, she could not return to the show.

For the last 9 years, news of Disha Vakani’s return to ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has surfaced several times, but she has not returned to the show yet. Now, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who played the role of Mrs. Roshan Singh Sodhi in the show, has made a shocking claim about Disha’s return.

According to Bollywood Bubble, Jennifer Mistry said that Disha Vakani is unlikely to return to the show and termed the news of her return as a marketing strategy. Jennifer said, “It’s all part of the marketing strategy, otherwise how will they keep the audience engaged and create hype? When I was on the show.”

Jennifer Mistry said, “Yes, Disha Vakani is no longer coming to the show. They will keep using her pictures for marketing. There was a time when she was actually going to come back. In 2021, she had also talked to us and said that she was returning. In fact, her shoot was going to start from the very next day. She came, tried the costume, everything was decided. But what happened after that, I don’t know. What happened behind the scenes. Well, it is still not clear.”

A girl from Delhi was selected for Dayaben

Jennifer Mistry further told that a girl from Delhi was almost finalized to replace Disha Vakani. He said, “A girl from Delhi used to come to audition. She was kept on hold for the role of Dayaben for almost two years. A mock shoot was also done with her. She was perfect for Dayaben. If you don’t see her face, you wouldn’t notice the difference. But her age was around 27-28 years and that became the problem. She looked too young in front of Dilip Joshi, so she was not cast in the show.”
