Gave new dimension to mythological stories

Anand Sagar was an important pillar of the second generation management of ‘Sagar Arts’. While his father Ramanand Sagar changed the history of Indian TV with 1987’s ‘Ramayana’, Anand Sagar took this legacy to modern audiences. He remade ‘Ramayana’ in 2008, in which Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Banerjee played the roles of Ram and Sita. His work contributed significantly in popularizing mythological stories among the new generation. Apart from direction, Anand Sagar was also associated with the production of successful projects like ‘Aankhen’, ‘Armaan’ and the famous magical story series ‘Alif Laila’.

What is Parkinson’s disease?

Anand Sagar was suffering from Parkinson’s for more than a decade. This is a disease that occurs due to gradual deterioration or death of the nerves (neurons) of the brain. In this, there is tremor in the body, stiffness in the muscles and difficulty in balancing. It affects both men and women, but research shows that more cases are seen in men than women.

Anand Sagar’s demise is a big loss not only for the Sagar family but also for the Indian television business. He carried forward the cultural legacy left by his father with full dignity.
